Good day guys...

I hope you're all staying healthy in this crazy time... so i know its pretty much the end of the cold season, but I havent had heat all winter, and I'm just finding the time to try to fix it now... when i turn on the heat, it blows cold/warm... not close to hot, but maybe 4/10 on a scale, 10 being normal heat...

ive been told its probably the heater core, maybe just a bad thermostat, maybe just needs new fluid... who knows... has anyone had this issue before? or know what I can start to look into before i spend money on a new core?

The very first thing I would check is the coolant level.

It’s probably your plenum door or the servo that runs the plenum door. The 2002 through 2004 trucks are notorious for this issue. I had a 2003 and had it break 3 times during the 16 years I owned it. A few years ago they finally came out with a re-designed door that seems to hold up. If that’s your problem you’ll have to take the entire dash out of the truck to fix it right. You’ll find short cuts on how to make your system work without tearing the dash out but it’ll never be right unless you take the ductwork out of your truck and rebuild it.

Good thing about taking the dash out; you’ll be able to fix all the burned out dash bulbs, replace the cracked dash cap and tighten up all the rattles. Good luck.

It would definitely not be your heater core unless it is stopped up. If so your radiator probably is too.
