Hello all,

This is my first time posting after years of getting advice from older post here, but now I have run into one that I am having trouble solving on my own.

Truck info - 2012 Ram 1500, 5.7 Hemi 4wd 245K miles.

Back story, replaced a failed head gasket at 220k miles, replaced heater core at 240k miles, and has run great until last week the water pump started leaking. After replacement with OEM part, decided to also replace the thermostat and radiator cap while I had it apart. I bled the system out with a spill proof funnel on an incline until I had heat inside the vents. Thought everything was great, until about 10 minutes of driving and I lost heat again. I figured maybe an air pocket was still trapped, so I bled again, only for it to happen again. I have done this process about 5 times now but still am not getting heat out of the vents, despite having no visible coolant leaks, no loss of level in the radiator or overflow. I have run out of things to try and am baffled why with the spill proof funnel on, I get heat but after driving for a few minutes, I lose it. The heater hose supply is hot, while the return is warm. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Did you check the thermostat for proper functioning? Take it out and put in water that heats up to boiling to see what temperature it opens at.
