Just thought id post a pic if my rear differential plug magnet. My truck is an 18 and has around 31k on it. I’m sure this plug has never been cleaned off before. Just wonder how much is too much with regards to metal buildup.

nah. that looks fine man.

most of that will be from the first like 5,000 miles.

On my old truck i bought off my dad. It had 100,000 miles on it. he had it since new, and never changed any fluids. OMG, when i did the transmission. The plug in there looked like porcupine!

Just get some new fluid in her, and then when you change it again at 60k miles. it should be pretty clean.

Good to know. Never owned a 2500 before let alone a Power Wagon. I wanted to get AEV covers front and rear this year but it just didn't happen. I appreciate it.

No I haven't. I'm sure it needs it by now. If I put new covers on this next spring I'll do it. Only reason I even looked at it was because my dealer said my pinion seal wasn't leaking when I brought it in. I figured I'd check to see if there was any fluid left. lol.

mine was about the same. i would definitely change the rear fluid asap. I learned on here and thru the Facebook groups you should change your diff fluid after the first 1500 miles or if used as soon as you buy it to flush out all those break in shavings

I just changed mine at ~1500 miles and zero wiskers on the drain plug magnet.

If they are on the magnet, they are not in the gears. Use common sense.
