So quick spec sheet. 2012 1500, 5.7, CC with 108000 well maintained miles, dual exhaust tips. All stock. Now to my question.

The other day i started my truck and it sounded off to me on the exhaust side. Drove to work and the exhaust seemed a bit louder, quite a bit deeper and more growl.

No bang, rattles, pop, knocks at start up. Nothing out of the normal there.

Got to work and noticed the passenger exhaust tip was hanging low. Checked it out and it had slid out of the rear most hanger. Got home and fixed the hanger and did a couple inspection of the exhaust system. No signs of cracks, slip seams in the muffler, no loose couplers, joints dont look like they moved.

Any idea what could cause this?

Sound back to normal after you put it back in the hanger? Seems like something came loose somewhere or maybe road debris knocked it out of the hanger?

Nope same new sound after i fixed the hanger. The muffler has a odd band that looks more rusted then the rest. Ill see if i can get a photo of it today.

I would loosen, adjust and re-tighten that last clamp band to make sure it's making a good seal.

If you have rust showing on the muffler, its possible some baffles inside the muffler have rusted out and its a more direct flow through muffler now, may just need a new muffler, or time to upgrade the system to a more throaty aggressive sound if you like it the way it sounds with the failed muffler.
