Occasional hard down shift to 1st

Does anyone else experience a hard down shift from 2nd to 1st? 2014 with 8spd trans. I've heard there's a flash available but my trucks out of warranty since it's Canadian. It only happens when coasting down to 1st. Wondering if anyone has had it done or has an idea what the price is

It’s very common and isn’t really a cause for concern, they all do it to some degree. There have been updates released with varying levels of success.

Unless it becomes really harsh I wouldn’t worry about it.

This is normal for the 8-speed. Try pushing the tow button and check out how it downshift into first.

Every time mine does it I always look in my rear view to see if the knuckle head behind me rear ended me or not. I feel like the tranny is laughing at me every time too.

My 17 doesn't seem to do this (although it leaks like a pig)

My previous 2014 Grand Cherokee with the 8 spd did it very bad.

2015 Sport CC. No leaks. Occasional downshift slowing to a light or stop sign. Definitely not enough to fishtail.

My 8 speed will do that if I come from highway speeds to a dead stop. My dads powerwagon 6speed does it every time.

Yep my truck still does it even after the flash from the dealer but the flash did help. Drove my dads 17 Silverado 6.2 with the 8 speed and shifts night and day better than my truck. Still isn’t perfect but definitely makes dodges programming look like ****.
