I took a good look at the unit and there is a large inlet snorkel to the front passenger side that draws air from in front of the radiator. I see that the K&N simply has an open top, which to me detrimental to IATs. Perhaps the snorkel remains with the kit & just blows indirect cooler air?
Puzzling that they claim so much power added unless the OEM flat filter & tubing are very restrictive, which I rather doubt.
I noticed that other aftermarket kits - i.e. S&B do utilize the OEM air snorkel.
I wonder if a high-flow flat filter utilizing the OEM box might be a better (and cheaper) alternative.
Just some general observations regarding an engine that is WAY more advanced than my 5.7L.
