I'm pretty certain of my diagnosis that this taillight itself is has gone bad, but I figured I'd throw it up here and see if the hive mind agrees.

  • Truck has OEM LED taillights from the factory.
  • No mods have been made to them.
  • Nothing additional is tapped into them.
  • This started happening about a month ago and was intermittent, but steadaly getting more frequent and now has gone to seemingly permanent.
  • It's setting off the "Left rear turn signal out" message on the EVIC.
  • All connections have been checked and are good, voltage is good as well.
  • There is only one positive wire for the Brake/Turn portion of the light, so it's not a bad wire or connector.

Please excuse the goofy music, I'm learning how to use a new video editing package and wanted to play with adding soundtracks. :)

Looks like a failing LED array. It happens. Doubtful you can repair it. I'd look for a replacement.

Yeah, that I knew. I've got a post over in the Wanted section. Brand new from Benny here is about $225, car-part.com ranges from $130 to $300 (?!?) for a salvage unit. And aftermarket OEM style is almost as much as OEM. I haven't seen an aftermarket non-OEM style I liked. I seem to be one of the few people who like the 4th Gen factory lighting...

That's the new 2019 tail light update to mimic the new truck tail lights :D

In all honesty report what you end up doing. I have a feeling ill be having to cross this bridge when my stock LED tails fail. Maybe I'll get the new 19 oem tails as an upgrade! :D

Unfortunately, from what I've read, they don't fit. The shape is a little different in the corners.

Well, it seems that the very expensive "covers all major components" extended warranty I bought from FCA when I bought the truck doesn't cover any of the very expensive LED lighting. So much for that. And a call to @RamCares proved useless once again ("We're sorry, but we can't help you with that taillight"). So, anyone got a driver's side LED tailight (sport style, no chrome) they want to sell cheap?

For anyone interested, I ended up replacing the taillight with a Depo OEM Replica purchased from car-parts.com. A big Thanks! to @OnSale for pointed them out to me.

I can recommend the Depo brand, it's visually identical to the OEM and the brightness appears to be spot on as well so far.

The one thing I can't recommend is car-parts.com themselves. They marked my order as shipped, but FedEx didn't receive it from them until 5 days later. (Then another 6 days for FedEx Ground to get it to me)

Your welcome bud and wow, that’s insane about the shipping. I bought the pair, not one, and on their website they were around $335 + shipping so they were $370 ish, but their eBay store (car-parts-wholesale) which is their websites ebay department had them listed for $303 + free shipping so I bought them through their eBay store and I had them 5 days after I paid for the listing.
