Gave up on DBall after 3 weeks of messing with it. Anyone have installed OEM remote start writeup? Thinking of going that route, i just dont want to have dealer install it cause their labor cost more than the part.

Talked to service department at dealer they said they will charge me $90 to program system. I already sent back my DBall to the seller, I guess I'll have to do some thinking. What T-harness are you guys using, I had the CHTHD1.

After I got a full refund on the previous DBALL seller and I went and found another seller from ebay (cheaper also) and installed it within 10mins and worked perfectly the first time around. Really glad I stuck with it and save $400 compared to OEM stuff.

Curious what is involved in this upgrade? I have a 2012 express and the dealer installed a factory unit. Took only a few minutes and didn't even need to discontect the battery so it must be a simple plug in module with a new key/reprogram??

Yes the oem unit is a plug in module, but it is expensive and requires a reflash.

I believe the OEM install only involves chaning ignition module, latch, and adding an antenna. I looked it up, pretty easy, its just about $250 for the part, and another $250 in labor. Although anyone can buy/install the OEM remote start, you still need to go to dealer to get it flashed since they are the only ones that will have computer to do it, it will take seconds to flash and they will charge you minimum hour labor.

What year is your truck? My 08 I got an add on module from autoalarmpro.com. It has a plug and play tee harness and only one ground to connect. This operates through the Skeem module. The best part is I don't have extra key fobs. I just press lock three time on my key and it starts. They offer them for 3rd and 4th gen trucks.

Cellular Add On!

Has anyone looked into installing a cellular add on to an OEM remote start. I have a 2012 1599 Laramie that has factory remote start. The range of the system is not very good. One way to solve this I thought would be to ad on a cellular module. I'm not sure if this system has any additional input leads like most aftermarket systems do.

I got a free key FOB, and programming ($200+/- value) out of my local dealer when I showed them how to program my dad's 3500 CTD ST for keyless entry. No additional hardware required other than buying the FOB for $150.
