Ive got about 2700 miles on the new Sport, Ive got the Hemi motor, and I was curious when everyone is changing their oil? Im used to changing it at 3000 miles, and every 3000 after, the dealer said to wait until the truck tells me to change it........Im not used to technology lol.....
Does anyone know the Wix number for the oil filter? Ive had good luck with them in the past.

I've got about 300 miles on my 2014 Tradesman Express.
I plan to wait for the truck to tell me when and see what happens.
I haven't researched any parts yet. I'll watch this thread to see what others say.

I always do my frist one at about 2500-3000 no matter what the dealer/manufacturer says. after that i go with what the truck says and tells me to. im guessing it will be every 5-6k.

Depends on the oil. Anywhere from 3000 to 6000 man. Its really up to you.

I wouldn't use synthetic and still change the oil every 3k miles but that's just me.

My dealer told me the pcm is set for 3,000 miles and can't be changed. I wonder if they 100% understand these trucks. :emotions36:

Depends on the oil, dyno oil versus hydro cracked oil versus ester based oil or POA. The difference in usability is anywhere from 3k to 25k.

Every car/truck is different. When I was growing I always heard 3000 miles / 5000KM. My Mazda MPV was every 5000 miles / 8000KM, my Mazda 5 wagon was every 7,500 miles / 12,000KM.

The 2012 RAM manual on Page 129 states every 8000 miles / 12,800KM or every 6 months for the gasoline engine.

With this in mind I always change the oil 1000KM before the recommended change date. Everyone has their own rules though :)

According the computer, I'm already due for an oil change...but its suppose to be every 8k miles... got my first oil change at 8k and I'm at 13,500..... I checked my old dip stick and it is still a nice clean brown..so I just reset the computer, and just keep checking the oil every 1-2k until I hit my 16k or six months.

I dont think I could go 8000K.. Just doesn't feel right no matter what brand of oil.

Ive always used Castrol GTX regular oil, and always changed at about 3000 miles, guess Ill probably do the same with this truck......my drive to work is about 1.5 miles, and I come home for lunch, so it is about 6 miles a day, then on Saturdays Ill go do my running around. I wasnt sure if the short trip stuff playec a factor in the computers decision as to when to change it.......
I dont know anything about synthetics or synthetic blends, maybe I should look into that more because of the short trips?

I use mobile 1 gold top and change it every 10k or so with a filter every 5k. Been doing that for years and never had an issue.

Ditto, did the first change right at 3500mi because I'm neither digital or analog. Went from factory fill to dino. Going to watch and wait and decide whether or not to do at next 3500 or 5000 depending on how it all looks. Never been overly impressed with synthetics b/c of personal experience but YMMV.

Your driving habits are the absolute worst case scenario for the longevity of your engine. Your short trips aren't allowing the oil to come up to temp long enough to burn off the condensation created by the oil approaching max temp. When you shut your engine down that unburnt condensation will promote corrosion and sludge. Might wanna get her out and stretch her legs here and there!

1882, yes I know its tough on a vehicle. I do drive this truck a little more than the last, as I bought a camp up on Tug Hill and go up there a couple times a month. I try to let it warm up good also before leaving for work. I think Ill wait till 3500 miles and change it, then decide next time what I want to do.

Well - the info from RAM (this is in the iOS app too) is that the computer uses algorithms based on fuel used, mileage, RPMS, load, etc. to calculate oil change intervals. It also says to "never exceed 10,000 miles".

I have asked two service departments and both said to go by the onboard indicator and you will stay within warranty requirements.
