Oil Leaking

hello all, I have an 05 ram 1500 with the 4.7, and its leaking oil somewhere at the bottom of the engine..im about to dump dye in the oil and use the UV light. I suspect the oil pan gasket, its either that, the front main seal or rear main seal....it only leaks when the vehicle is running, i dont have any puddles in the driveway, I guess im asking yall what would give me more of a definate answer? the wettest spot under the engine is at the rear main, but how is most of the oil pan gasket wet if the vehicle is moving wouldnt it be kinda spraying further back under the truck? the transmission is dry..its not a bad leak, but bad enough I have to add oil every week and a half or so

Degrease your engine then you can have a clearer picture of where it’s coming from, and you don’t add crap to your engine.

So dont add the dye? Do they make oil pan gaskets for this engine or should I just do the gasket maker approach?

I would hold off on the dye,if you clean it you should be able to spot it ,who knows what effect the dye will have on other components.yes their is an oil pan gasket ,that is the way to go.

thanks Daw14, your awesome dude, just ordered the gasket online, and did not add the dye.. hopefully thats it
