Oil Pressur 99psi P0520 code *** SOLVED***

Ok guys,

Just started up the truck to go home and got a 'ding' and check engine light, notice my oil pressure was reading 99 psi.

Code reader shows a P0520.

I have no mechanical gauge to verify oil pressure, but truck does not seem to be running badly, no ticking etc. or knocking.

With 211k miles, is it my time for an oil pressure switch?

Part # 5149062AB approx $80 @ dealer

Oh, and it shows 99 psi with engine off.....lol

Common issue ,beside the brake calipers,this is the only thing that failed, less ten 10,000 miles .
However when I replaced it ,I added a tee fitting and ran a mechanical gauge in the cab.
You can drill where the clutch cable or linkage would enter the cab , near the master cylinder. There is a plastic block off that is a good location for in cab access.
I used A/N fittings and tubing and was satisfied with the results.

That is a circuit code, not a pressure out of range code. 99psi is probably the max value the PCM can read, meaning that the sensor is completely shorted to ground internally. (or the signal wire is shorted to ground).



Ether the sensor is bad, the wiring is bad or the connector is bad.

Probably the sensor.

Yeah, effing squirrels can muck things up. Hoping it's just due for a sensor.

Man you got lucky getting well over 200,000 out of the original Ed,mine packed it in when the truck was only about a year old and had less then 10,000 miles on it.

It did Ed,it went to 99 psi and stayed there as soon as you cycled the ignition on

Mine did the same 99psi under 10,000
