So just wondering what the rest of you guys are running for oil. I ask because I ran Pennzoil full synthetic and my last change I switched to Mobil 1 full synthetic. It may just be all in my head but I'm finding that with the mobil 1 my engine is running louder and not in a healthy way, has anyone else experienced this?

Pennzoil Platinum here. P/O used mobil 1, didn't notice much of a difference.

My issue had nothing to do with my oil in the end. I just had a lot of dirt build up in my throttle body. It was causing my truck to rev higher rpm's on start up.

This is why 4th Gen guys need to use a catch can.

You are not alone I have been saying this for awhile and have in many posts Mobil 1 makes the HEMI loud and tick.

Do not use it if you like a nice sounding none noisy engine. It happens all the time. Use anything other than Mobil 1 and it will sound good again. Both my Hemi's hated it and since I stopped using it no problems. Sorry just because they are the biggest does not mean they are the best.

The Mobil 1 comments are interesting as I find the Castrol Syntec Synthetic 5w20 makes my MDS Hemi Tick as well. I was thinking of switching to the Mobil one when I pull the Car out of storage. But now I am on the fence about trying it and have thought about trying Royal Purple ($15 a Liter up here/6.6 Liters needed) with the Long Mobil One Filter. $$ don't mind cost as I only change it once a year with amount I drive the Car.

In my Old Ram I run Dyno Oil Lucas 5w30 and a Quart Bottle of Lucas Oil stabilizer and long Filter. The Truck Runs well on this combo and cured my odd blue smoke on start-up after the truck is sitting and I have no more leaks and cut Oil consumption down to a quart per 3K miles.
I should have popped in new seals when I swapped my valve springs 3 years ago :emotions122:

My Ram has approx 160 k miles so my choice of Oil is based on being a higher mileage Hemi and that said do not use any of those fancy (High Mileage) Oils. I do have on hand a spare set of 2006 heads with 55K miles if needed.

I don't believe in the old ideal that you can't or should not run synthetic in an old rig. I run synthetic in all my stuff even mowers and my 2 stoke 79 Evinrude. I have never lost an engine using any type of oil though so I must be doing something right.
