2022 RAM 1500 BigHorn 4WD CC 6-4 Bed 3.21 Rear = 16k miles

I plan on keeping this for as long as i last since i am 65.

Oil changed at 2k , 8k , 15k

I will be changing the oil every 5k from now on with Full Synthetic Mobil 1

What else should I do for my RAM to preserve the Motor, Trans, Differentials???

Your recommendations are needed as I previously had the long lasting reliable Tundra.
I have owned them all = Ford, GM, RAM, Tundra - both gas and diesel but never kept them beyond 80k

I'm 69 and would prefer not having to replace my Ram, currently at just under 125k miles. I bought it with 20k miles and still under factory warranty, and no regrets so far. I am also trying to do everything I can to make it last, and this forum has been invaluable to me.

Hi David, check out Jesse Caulk's Thermal Bypass Bundle Kit.
This kit will help to reduce the excessive temperatures in the tranny and likely extend its life.
Mine is sitting in my NY mailbox.

2005 Dodge Magnum 5.7 L Hemi just went last year - can't recall exact milage, around 200K. I took care of it but drove it hard. Bought the current RAM Sport 2014 5.7 Hemi last October - so far , so good. Enjoying the truck, tho I gotta say, this site does make me nervous on occasion!

I know the feeling being 70 myself. Today I had to have the right front bearing hub replaced at 49916 miles on the clock. Water pump spit the bit at 39K. I still change the oil myself with PUP 5/W20 and Mo-899 filter every 5K. I have an excellent mechanic I use who is very knowledgeable about Rams. I'm hoping to drive it to the grave. I'll over maintain if it keeps it rolling. Been thinking about getting something down the line to just beat around town in to the store, Dr's etc...Looking to hit the 200K plus mark with the Ram. Hope it isn't just a pipe dream.

If i had the CA$H, i would do the same = Buy a second vehicle for food and miscellaneous

It's not just the cost of the second vehicle though = insurance as well as tires, brakes etc

SIMPLE FIX = Stellantis cannot force us to buy eTorque or problematic Hurricane

SIMPLE FIX part 2 = Everyone get together and use the middle finger to point to heaven, and tell them to keep their "New & Improved"

SIMPLE FIX Part 3 = Tell 'them' we'll buy your vehicles when they are VERIFIABLY New & Improved = which equates to RELIABILITY/LONGEVITY

Run 5W-30 oil,and don't baby it.Hemi's aren't an engine that likes being drove by Grandma.You don't have to abuse it,but don't be scared to drive it a bit aggressively and take it up past 3,000 rpm or more when shifting it.Use the steering wheel buttons to shift it occassionally as that way you don't need to have it floored to get above 3,000 rpm before shifting it.
The cam lobes and lifter rollers are strictly oiled by crank splash,there is No Pressurized oil fed to them,and the more rpm the engine/crank see's the more oil flung onto the cam lobes and lifter rollers

Since switching to 5W30, my Hemi is running smoother and quieter. And a bit higher oil pressure can't be bad.

Hemis are much more fun above 4000 rpm.

Use the steering wheel buttons to shift it occassionally as that way you don't need to have it floored to get above 3,000 rpm before shifting it.

What's wrong with having it floored, now and again? Naturally, I always choose to exercise the Hemi in a closed and secure environment.

Springtime is RedLine SI-1 season for me, and time to clean out all the carbon build-up.

I was super excited about the Hurricane.
LOVED the SST whenever I test drove one.
Was ready to BUY one in 2025
Was ready to to BUY one in 2026
Did my research and found out that, once again, 'New & Improved' is not yet the reality on today's Trucks.

As you know:
You can find the problems for the Hurricane on this forum.
You can also search the internet for the problems as there are quite a few.

Personally, i have spoken with a few service managers who said to me "I never said this" BUT "stay away from the Hurricane".

All of the Manufacturers can make a BETTER Truck = But the technocrats will not allow it.

My son Dan asked me this: "Can the RAM keep up with your Tundra that towed our boat at 90mph without hesitation???"

Like all these horror stories, it would be great to know the incidence of occurrence.

If there are several million Hemis on the road, what percentage of them suffer from cam/lifter failures and are the older models more prone to these issues?

And what percentage of the Atlantis High model electrical system trucks are possessed?

Unless your budget supports a tune job, a Pedal Commander or Pedal Monster will transform the fun factor.

Truth is that I have enjoyed my Ram and a big reason I'm a GM refugee is I wanted the power of a Hemi. It really is the highest rated H/P vehicle I've owned.
