I've read here and there that the predecessor to the outdoorsman, the TRX, sat taller or different than the standard 4x4 trucks at the time, and that when you added lifts or levels that you had to do different things to the TRX to lift them. I have a 2013 outdoorsman and am wondering if the current trucks are the same as the older TRX's when it comes to lifting/leveling. I would like to try to get by with just a level and squeeze some 35's under my truck, but I don't know if there are any other issues since it is an outdoorsman.

It will not matter that it's an outdoorsman, manufacturers just put warnings that it might not fit TRX/outdoorsmans because they have .7" longer struts, which really doesn't make a difference.

Here are the differences between my 2012 outdoorsman and my buddies 2013 4x4(not outdoorsman).
1. 17"wheels with all terrain vs 20"wheels with street tires.
2. 32 gallon tank vs 26 gallon tank
3. 3.93 gears vs 3.55 gears
4. skid plates vs no skid plates
5. LSD vs ......not sure
6. 3/4" longer front strut vs (doesn't matter, his actually sat a little higher bc of the bigger wheels and tires)

Some lift/level manufactures say some things might not work with trx/outdoorsman bc of the longer strut. HOWEVER.... if you want to lift or level, I recommend you start with the 5100's that I and so many other use. Because they are adjustable from stock hight to 2.8" of lift, it puts you in the clear to run a lift later on. Also, the 5100's will give your truck better drive quality vs block spacers that sit between the strut and strut retainer.

just my .02

I ordered my outdoorsman with the 20"s. I've heard a lot of good things on those 5100's on here, but The only thing i can think why not to go with the 5100's is my shocks have 4,400 miles on them, i just cant justify taking off brand new shocks to put on more brand new shocks. I was thinking i'd run blocks until my shocks get some age and wear and then switch over to the 5100's.
