I have a 2000 Dodge ram 1500 with 109,000 miles on it and I have a P0443 code, I’m not sure where I should start on how to fix it , I do have a slight hissing sound coming from under my truck bed where the gas tank is, and I recently did an oil change and with my truck off there was white smoke coming out of the dipstick hole, which is really concerning.

p0443 is a emissions code

for now, look at your gas cap, look for rust on the gas fill tube or bottom of the cap or a wrinkled rubber seal
It may or may not be good

Then look at the Purge Valve, on your dodge, it may be almost under the general battery area.
There is a way to check it, remove the Purge Valve & try using your lips to blow a healthy breath of Air through it, your lips will go where the hose that comes up from the firewall area to the purge valve connects.
If you can blow air through it, there is a very good chance that it is BAD

Next check the ESIM, it will be near the back of the fuel tank, above the Charcoal Canister,. you will be advised to watch YouTube video(s)

The Evaporative System Integrity Module, also known as an Evaporative System Integrity Monitor or ESIM, is a key component of the EVAP System

In this video, they call the ESIM, by the name Vent Valve

I have similar problem. Electrical harness ohms out ok with ECM disconnected and battery disconnected. Have solid ground and power side 0 ohms. New Purge valve, new gas cap and new reman. ECM.
When I reset the ECM code the check engine goes "off" but when I shut the truck off after test run, then restart, the light comes back "on" and P0443 code. I even drove the truck during test 20 miles with no light after reset. But when I restarted the check engine light and P0443. It is persistent.
