P0456 Small Leak - Gas Smell

This is a '12 Ram 5.7 crew cab short bed. I just finished a restoration on this A.R.E. cap I found on Craigslist for $200. I'm pumped to camp a night with it but have to sort out the evap system leak. It's stinking up the bed area with fuel smell and throwing code P0456. I can definitely smell the gas between the cab and bed.



I got under there to look with a flashlight but didn't see any disconnected hoses etc. What should I look for?

What the manual doesn't say though, is that the ESIM itself fails more often that the other 3 "possible causes".

While I'd usually say, just replace the ESIM, since it's so cheap and easy, since you can smell gasoling, you might have leak down there somewhere.

Good luck finding it without a smoke test machine.

P0456 can be set with an air leak in the evap system as small as .02" diameter:

I'm thinking that is my next step. I have a reasonable mechanic who can smoke test it.

Replaced the ESIM and waiting for a new Mopar cap so fingers crossed
