Not what factory says but the sticker on your truck. What is the payload capability?

You can go to rams website and search your vin number in the towing calculator and they will tell you your trucks exact capabilities.

Easy way would be to take your gvwr and subtract your curb weight and your weight. That is your "payload"

I asked for someones sticker facts for several reasons. I do not yet have a VIN and the door sticker is never what factory specs says due to model and option variation. In other worlds, real world. I have the figure from Ram website and I will bet you a beer that it isn't what it says on a door of the popular configuration I requested info on.

The Outdoorsman I *almost* bought said 3008 lbs- that was a well trimmed (sunroof, 8.4AN, heated everything, buckets- no leather) so that may help you gauge accordingly. The Laramie will be less.

My bad bro didnt realize you were waiting on the truck still haha..the gvwr of our trucks is 10k#..my truck has a curb weight of 6400lbs plus me at 160 means i have about 3440lbs of payload..with a crew laramie that gonna drop several hundred pounds but id say 3000lbs is a safe estimation for you.

Do a search from Ram's website and find one close to the options you want and get the VIN from the window sticker and type that in on the website above.

The options on a particular truck will vary as will it's payload. Leather seats and a sunroof weight more than sans both for example. But you can get a good estimated average.

If the outdoorsman that smurfs looked at was 3008lbs fully loaded then a laramie would be slightly less..not sure what the weight difference between cloth and leather is but it cant be much.

If 3000lbs of payload is cutting it close you may want a 1 ton or if 3400lbs aint enough get a dually.

Thanks for the replies!

Fortunately, I just received my VIN. Unfortunately, the RAM website will only pull up 2014 as latest.
I am planning on 2900; those WTH steps pull it down plus I got just about every option except factory air bags and bed camera.

I am thinking about a lightweight truck camper that says 1900 lbs. Of course that doesn't include water, etc so realistically 2700 lbs or so with 2 people. I will be cutting it close but THINK I may be OK. Probably shouldn't have ordered the WTW steps but realistically won't make any difference. Just didn't wish to step up to a 3500 due to everyday ride.

Once you get the truck you will regret it if you don't get the wtw steps because the bed is so high. Even with them it is still kind of a pain to get to the bottom of the bed.

I bought a 2015 2500 6.4 hemi crew cab in the big horn trim with 6'4" bed. I was curious as to what the actual legal payload would be vs what my sticker said (2,840) so i went across our local scale last night. With a half tank of fuel my truck weight 7,140 with me in it. So 2,800 pounds of true payload in my specific truck is what i am looking at legally...

And right on with the wheel to wheel bars! You'll be glad ya did!

I wonder why the intense variation. Each item add-on has weight, of course, but several have posted with most of the add-ons and still at around 3,000.

14's i believe still had stock leaf springs with coils as an option in the rear. the coils are a standard feature in the 15's for a rear suspension (for the 2500's at least)
