After that calculation, I'm going to perform the BIG 3 power upgrade in parallel (starting with grounds only) and possibly run a ground to the throttle body as well to see if I get the reported 1-1.5 MPG increase. At the very least the electrical system will operate more efficiently.[/QUOTE]

If you have time can you explain this part of your answer? I'm lost.....

I'm pretty sure I'm doing the CAI but haven't nailed which brand yet. Can someone enlighten me as to the best system to upgrade to.

Thanks for the info, where did you purchase your OEM dual exhaust? is it the hemi or the ED exhaust?
I got mine through an LKQ eBay auction for $155 shipped (to their yard nearest me). It included the Sport muffler (2) tail pipes and (2) chrome tips. It was taken off at the dealership before the truck was ever purchased with 50 miles on it.

Wow that was a gift. I'll have to keep my eyes open for a deal.

I traded with another member on here. He got my single exhaust and bumper and I got his dual exhaust and bumper. It's the Dual sport from a 2015 Hemi R/T. The sound is awesome!

Its a exact swap. took about 30-40 min to swap them both out.

Here are some pics of the before and after..

Has anybody supercharged their Pentastar?

Seems like a nice way to keep your mileage (even increase it slightly if you don't drive too heavy) and have more power than a stock Hemi on tap.

I know RIPP makes kits, however they're pricey.

For the cost of the kit you would never make up the cost in fuel because you would need premium fuel. At that point you would be much better off just upgrading to a Hemi.

Let's see some responses without the proverbial "just get a Hemi". This is the Pentastar Performance Upgrade thread you know...try not to be a killjoy :), us Pentastar guys like to dream big too, just in the most efficient manner possible.

Hear hear. Not everybody wants/needs a Hemi. Frankly, with the "Hemi tick" and "horrible screaming valvetrain death" threads, I'm even more glad I didn't get one.

And "upgrade to a Hemi" works if you haven't bought the truck yet. It costs a bit more than that if you have to trade the truck in, take a loss, and then buy another one.

I like my Pentastar. :D

Oh, that's lovely. So it's just the stock Sport Hemi exhaust? Everything after the cat, I assume?

Something that simple, I could almost handle myself. But I know a guy...hmm. Gotta investigate this a bit.

Don't suppose anyone happens to have a convenient list of part numbers? :D

Sorry, I don't have a list of part numbers, but its everything from the muffler back and the bumper.

If you go off the attached picture, you need parts #7, 8, 9, 10, the metal bolt on hanger that's not pictured, and the bumper. In all I think its about 6 bolts for the bumper, and another 5 for the exhaust. I would suggest you find a friend with a lift, but it could be done in the driveway if you had stands to lift it up a bit. 1 long socket set and a rubber mallet is about all you need.

The truck is my daily driver so the OEM duals and the Airaid intake is about all id do performance wise. maybe a larger throttle body or spacer. The Super charger is cool though :)

No, that response was for the supercharger kit. It is one thing to throw a intake tuner or exhaust on the v6. It is another to pay $5700 shopped for a kit that will bring you up to the power of the hemi but will void any warranty you have, will require you to run premium, and overstresses the engine just to get you to the level of another engine that costs less that $2000 to upgrade to in the first place. I doubt you would go into the dealership and be $5700 upside down on your truck so it would be cheaper to trade in on a new one, that is logic you can't deny.
As for the "hemi tick" name the last time you saw that be the death of one of them. I've been on here for 2 years now and I have maybe seen 2 hemi engines get replaced. They may be loud but it is not like they are remotely unreliable.

Actually, that's a value judgment. And you don't get to make it for my truck.

I might prefer the supercharged Pentastar to a Hemi, whereas you might not. That has value to me that you haven't accounted for in your math. It's not just about the bucks sometimes.

And again, nobody in this thread asked "should we"; it's all about "how" here.

As for the "hemi tick" name the last time you saw that be the death of one of them. I've been on here for 2 years now and I have maybe seen 2 hemi engines get replaced. They may be loud but it is not like they are remotely unreliable.
Knowing the origin of the tick, and that actual Chrysler techs have stated in no uncertain terms that these engines have a design flaw involving low oil pressure under loaded idle (idle in D), getting less oil up to those overcomplicated MDS lifters than is needed to lubricate them properly, is troubling.

I don't HAVE to know a hundred people who have crashed doing 1/4 mile drag passes on a 5/16-mile long track in order to figure out it's probably a bad idea.

All we're asking is that you keep your "get a Hemi" out of a performance thread dedicated to our Penatstars. We'll be the ones to make that judgment, thank you very much.
