Hello guys. I'm been pretty active on a forum for Fords, hope to have the same experience here. I had a diesel '99 Super Duty for several years and sold it when maintenance costs got out of hand at about 150,000. I then picked up an old '78 GMC just to run trash and what not in while I saved up for a new truck. Well, the saving is done and the spending started.

I test drove a lot of different trucks and SUVs because I wasn't sure what I wanted. Test drove a 5.0 F-150 and an eco-boost F-150, a Nissan, Two hemi-equipped Dodges, and a Toyota. The GMs were so ugly I didn't bother to drive them. It came down to the Dodge or the Ford, and the Dodge won. More power, cheaper, real rear doors instead of the clam shell rears that need the front ones opened first, and a slightly nicer interior look made the Dodge come out on top this time.

I ended up with a Flame Red quad cab 4x4 express (Customer Preferred package 25C and ST Popular Equipment group) with a 3.92 limited slip rear, 32 gallon tank, the U-connect thingy, and a trailer hitch.

I don't have any mods planned, its got everything I want stock other than a spray in bedliner. I'm going to pick up a bed mat for now.

Thanks guys. I've been poking around a bit. I'm sure I'll chime in with questions soon. I'm hoping the salesman can do a good job explaining how to use the Uconnect and Bluetooth stuff tomorrow morning. That's all brand new to me.

Welcome!

The Uconnect is not difficult to use at all.

I do disagree with you, however, on one point. You wrote "... and a slightly nicer interior look made the Dodge come out on top this time...." refering to the Ford VS Ram interior.

I disagree in that, I've always been a full-sized Ford truck man all my life.... until my Ram purchase this year. The God-aweful [new gen] Ford shells [especially square lines] and interiors made me look elsewhere. I think the Ram's interior is superior by a country mile in comparison to the cheap "plastic-ee" Ford interiors.

It, the current generation Ram, is the best full-sized pickup interiors I've had thus far, IMHO.

Safe driving.

I liked them both. The display/gauge cluster on the Ford is pretty neat looking and I liked the look and feel of the steering wheel and assorted buttons. That's one of the reasons I can't buy GM any longer. The switch gear and assorted buttons look like they are the same ones they put in late 90s Pontiacs. I liked the Dodge's seats better, they look nice with the two tone, and I like having dual bench seats. Dash was pretty much a wash. I'd have been happy in either one, they are all a huge step up from my current 1978 GMC truck, and the '99 F-250 is the most modern truck I've driven prior to this one. They've come a long way.

Kind of off topic, but our car is a 2008 Ford Taurus Limited and the interior is gorgeous. Its every bit as nice as Lincolns were just a few years ago.

Well, 20 minutes and I'm out the door for the delivery inspection and finish up the paperwork.

Line-X.

I dig the color, too. I kinda lucked into it, the first one I looked at had the dark cherry red and I almost went for it. I wanted the limited slip rear axle, though, and this one was identical except Flame Red, the limited slip, and the Uconnect. They brought it down from another one of their dealerships and the rest is history.:)

I saw your post about getting a diesel and all the mods you were thinking of doing. Remember a lift is a trade off when it comes to towing. I don't know what your budget is, but have you considered a dedicated tow rig and then continue to mod your current truck as a play truck with a big lift and wheels and whatnot? You'd end up with two capable trucks without the trade offs, and probably not too much more of an investment by the time you sold your current (beautiful) truck. Just sayin.

Love this 4th gen changed the truck market.

BIG MILESTONE LAST NIGHT:

Hit 70,000 miles. :D

Still looks and runs like new. The only repair to date has been a coil pack replaced.
