Started a thread in performance but wanted to be specific about colors. I am going with the hemi orange under the hood.

I was unaware of the plasti dip and the applications for wheels and stripes.

I plan on ordering the G2 caliper paint in blue or orange.

Want to try the plasti dip on the wheels and do some stripes as well.

This is the truck:

Gonna black out the emblems. So...... Can I get some suggestions for the color schemes?

Just can't decide. Two options im considering most:
1 - go over the top and orange everything (wheels, hubs, calipers, grills and stripes)
2 - tone it down with black stripes, grills, wheels and blue calipers with blue hubs.

Thanks

Think maybe the orange calipers and black on everything else.

With the blue calipers might be able to do some light accents and not be too much.

Idk....

Could always try to do the orange caliper idea with some black racing stripes and then paint the door handles orange or something like that too.

For your emblems black out the chrome rams head and do the hemi orange where it is black. I did my front mineral grey with black background and it looks reaaly good. Working on a rear emblem. Taking a little longer seeing that it is one piece.

Debadge entirely, black plasti-dip the wheels with an orange lip. Too much orange and its gonna look like a construction truck. Accent the wheels with the orange clipers. I'd stick with black stripes if your going to to any graphic. Matte black looks great on the mineral gray trucks. Personally i do not like a bunch of bold colors mixed up, tends to look like a ricer... Good Luck, post pics

I like the orange under the hood. Keep the orange theme going with the calipers and pinstripe and go with black for your rims if you are tired of teh stock grey/silver.

Might have to agree. I say my exterior is 90% orange and about 70% under the hood and it does look like a construction truck..................under construction ;P

Can't wait to see how it comes along and good luck.

Work on the stripes the next couple of days. Daughters started school and they are going to be laying down the lines. I just don't have an eye for it. Get a few pics after the paint dries today.

I'm confused on the plasti-dip emblems and fuel door. I debadged and love it so i'm not looking for specific instructions on how to do it. If i'm looking at it correctly, the badges and fuel door don't seem to be taped much. Is the plan to cut out the middle of the "00" on 1500 and around the fuel door? Then pull the excess plasti-dip off? I get the ram head because you can tape right up to it. But the Ram 1500 seems to have some small spaces in it. Just curious.

That's the nice thing about the dip. No cutting and actually need that edge around the emblems. It will "self cut" at the seams and sharp edges. Another thing is the overspray will just wipe off.

Did a couple of test stripes. Can't mess around with the stripes. Have to start pulling the tape while it's wet and really need two people if doing a large area. Botched the first attempt but the rest turned out ok. With a little practice should look pretty good. Ended up getting the stripe started about a foot and daughter was pulling tape behind me as I finished the stripe. If it dries there will be no clean lines and will have to cut or redo.

Will be starting the wheels Friday so hopefully I can have some pics up late saturday or Sunday.

Decided to keep the orange under the hood. Will be going with the blue from G2.

And a big thanks to Trupiano for the debadge vid. Made it a snap to get the hemi badge off. No point advertising the hemi, I'll let them assume what they want. Lol

Looking good. So to get the plastidip out from around the letters and numbers, do you do that while it is still wet. I would like to see how mine looks with the Cummins' logo painted black. Why didn't you just remove the front emblem. When I did mine with plastidip the spots where the edge didn't wrap around began peeling. Also found that shooting a couple of coats of spray can clear improves durability. Not sure you would want to do that with the strips, but if you took the front emblem off, you could improve the durability.

So I read you talking about blue calipers, well I don't think its the best idea. I tired in on my old express and it looked like ****. Mine was a black truck and the blue hardly stood out. I have green calipers now on my black sport and love it, orange might look alright but don't go with anything without a glossy finish or it will always look a little dirty. Bright colors need lots of cleaning...
