I searched the forum and found some good info, but most of it was older. Does anyone have a good way of using a PC to export iTunes playlists onto your SD card? I've got about 110GB of music and would love to have that in my truck, but don't want to have to scroll through it all.

All of my music is flat, meaning it's just "Artist - Song Title" all in one big folder on my PC.

Is there another way of dealing with songs, or creating playlists? I tried putting files into different folders to essentially create a playlist on my USB drive, but pressing the Random button utilizes all songs, not just those in the folder.

Any ideas?

Here is a link to some instructions on another forum

Uconnect playlist using a usb memory stick or SD card - Alfa Romeo Forum

I have not tried this myself but from reading the directions it looks like you will have to export your iTunes playlist to .m3u and then edit the text file it has created. Apple always has it's nuances......and this is coming from an Apple fanboy.

You might be better off using a Windows type program like Media Player or Media Monkey, etc. as they "should" create the necessary .m3u file without having to modify.

Good luck! Let us know how you make out.

I did find that if you export your iTunes playlist as an (.m3u) file, you can use it in your Ram truck. The only problem is that the playlist will still reference the path of your music files on your computer. For example, if your files are normally here on your computer:

c:\music\itunes\Doobie Brothers - Long Train Running.mp3

The playlist on your USB or SD card will then look for the songs in that same path/directory. The solutions are to:

1) Open up each m3u file in a text-editing program (Notepad, etc.) and manually delete the pathname to: Doobie Brothers - Long Train Runnings.mp3

You would have to do this for each song in each playlist, which in my case is tens of thousands

2) There are Visual Basic scripts that people have written that will automatically change the path/directory for you in the playlists.

Just go into a text editor and do a Find/Replace

Find E:\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\

Replace with \

Done!

I find it easier to just make folders on the SD card with the names of playlist, then drag and drop.

Thanks for the hints. I downloaded Notepad++ and was able to quickly edit all of my playlists. That was pretty slick. It took my truck a couple of attempts to recognize the updated playlists but now it works pretty slick.

I've now got about 108GB of music at my fingertips without having to monkey with my cell phone, which only was 60GB!
