Power seats quit working on my 09.
The circuit breaker under the hood is hot and pops as soon as you put it back in.
Any ideas?
Or just take it to the dealer?

dealer if its still under warranty.

Sounds like either a stuck switch or a shorted motor under the seat

checked the dealer today, warranty ran out the end of march

dug around under the seat a little today and figured out which plug is shorting at least so I have somewhere to start.

definitely drivers side and its only one plug out of the bunch under there so I have a decent starting place I guess

What does that plug go to? You need a multimeter to really check things out.

Haven't had time to tear into it yet
The seat is in my position and since it won't move, it keeps the wife from wanting to take the truck ;)

ok so tore into it tonight
turns out that the dealership service monkeys had routed the wires wrong where they goto the seat controls and when the seat was all the way back, it was pinching the power wire that goes to the lumbar switch and that was taking everything out.

There was a recall awhile back and dad had taken it in and they replaced the seat skins. Thats when they screwed up the routing.
Dad just never put the seat ALL the way back so he hadnt shorted it, but I put it as far back as it will go and bzzt.

It had also busted some of the plastic around the switch panel by pulling the wires through it.

Oh well, a couple bits of heat shrink and routed the wires correctly and its fixed.

BUT then as I was tightening the inside front seat bolt - the head snapped off!!!
I wasnt gorilla tightening it, just good and tight.

Yeah I'll try an ez out eventually.
Honestly I was so pissed when it snapped I didn't even look at it.
Maybe there's enough sticking out to get a pr of vise grips on it.
Either way it's fine for now.

I was extra pissed when I realized it was the dealers fault because my jeep was getting worked on by the same dealer to replace the click spring.
Got it back and checked it over. Doesn't seen as tho they screwed anything up on it.
