Just purchased front/rear Bilstein 5100s for my '06. I'm going to install the rears myself but plan on having a shop do the fronts. How much should I expect to pay?

I got mine done for around $250 at a shop, but also needed my locking lugs cut off as I lost the key.
Its worth it to take to a shop for the fronts, I was told they had to use heat, air pressure and muscle to break the struts out.

Unless you have coil overs you should be able to do the job yourself. Just make sure that you have the proper tools first. Take your time and make sure everything is in right before you hit the road. After 20-50 miles check the bolts that hold the new shocks in place, just to be sure they have not backed off any.

I considered doing them myself but I've never done anything of the nature. I can do the rears as its straight forward. I'm just unsure of using a spring compressor or how to tear the front end apart.

Like I said unless you have coil over struts (which I doubt) replacing the front shocks is pretty straight forward. The shocks should drop out through the bottom of the arm if they are inside the coilpack. Just undo the top nut, and there should be 2 bolts on the bottom that go into the a-arm. Remove them then the shock should drop out. No coil compressor needed. Take a look underneath your front end and see how they are installed before taking your truck to a shop, to see how they are installed. The job may be as easy as I describe.

Yeah my 2007 have the strut inside the coil, I attempted to do it but with upstate NY winters for 6ish years prior to me buying the truck. No way could I have done the front myself unless I had air tools and a blow torch to undo the bolts.

For $100 it's definitely worth it. Good luck. I am going to change all the shocks once the bigger probs are out of the way, so I had the same question.

Hopefully the price doesn't change once I get there. Had a 4x4 specific shop quote me $240 so $100 is def a steal!
