Considering buying a deleted RAM 2016. Has an EFLive 5-switch and owner does not know what are the tunes in it.

I am familiar with a programmer where you can only flash back to stock (emissions for example) if it is married to the truck.

In the case of the EFILive, what do I do if I want to return to stock but have no information on who did the programming?

Also, if I want a tune modified, how do I read/update the efilive? Do I need to deal wiht the original tuner person or can shop around?

All due respect to forum sources, try the EFILive web site, they should be able to answer your questions, if not, try calling their tech dept!

Just start fresh with a tuning company that can provide everything in one package with support. The new tunes would just over write what is on there and make sure they can provide a "stock" tune as well.

HATE when people sell off their trucks and do not provide the tuner hardware and information. Leaves the new buyer with having to start from scratch basically

On a side note, you are taking a big risk buying a tuned truck and it sounds like this one has been passed around a couple of times. I would be Very leery. You may be picking up a money pit.

EFI Live, MM3, etc are usually tuning platforms. The tune files themselves are created and supported by independent tuning shops. Usually the tuning platform allows downloading and saving the stock tune. If that file is on the tuner you can return the vehicle to the stock tune. You mentioned it was a deleted truck. If sensors / hardware were removed then the stock tune will throw a bunch of error codes unless you put all the sensors / hardware back on the truck. If the stock tune was not saved then you would have to take it to a dealer to have it reflashed or possibly have the ECM replaced. Some tuning shops like Double R Diesel require some data from the stock tune to create your tunes so you may not be able to just buy another tuner / tune files from a different tuning shop. Carefully discuss the situation with your chosen tuning shop before buying the truck. EFI Live supports encrypting the tune files to protect them from alteration so only the original tuning shop can change them.

Does the owner still have all of the emissions equipment he took off the truck? If you are planning to return it to stock the emissions stuff can be very expensive to buy.

Most tuners customize the EFI Autcals with their logo. Have the owner take a picture of it and you should be able to see who the tuner was. Probably either CTT(formerly HPP), PPEI, Hardway, Double R, GDP or Anarchy. Those are the most popular.

For example here are my Autacal's. The right is Hardaway Performance and the left is Anarchy Diesel.

Another problem is, even if he has the autocal it could be tied to a tuner that has been "shutdown" and no longer doing delete tunes so he is probably SOL. Most of those guys won't even respond any more from what people have been saying.

Either way I don't think the OP likes what we have to say because he started another thread with the exact same question. Lol
