I'm installing a pair of JBL 3/4" tweeters in my roof to replace the factory speakers.

Can someone tell me what this is and if I need it? It is included in the box of stuff that came with the speakers.

This is a crossover. You would use this if you were trying to add the tweeters to a full range speaker set. Since you are replacing existing tweeters, I doubt you will need it. But, it will filter out any frequencies not supported by the tweeters you are installing.

Install it inline regardless.
Don't just assume that your current tweeter is already crossed over. It could have a micro crossover (cap) built in, therefore receiving full frequency from the headunit/factory amp.
Not to mention, if you replace the factory source of amp later, you won't have to pull it all apart to add in these crossovers

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking that is what it was but wasn't sure. I'll put it in.
There was no mention of it in the basic instructions that came with the tweeters.

Best to use the crossover that is provided with the new speaker you are using as the cut off frequency may not be the same as the OE tweeter .
