Looking to swap the garbage ra1 in my 2014 out for the ra2. From what I've heard it's just a direct plug and play swap with no harness mod. I've found a few on eBay but I'm wondering do I need some sort of code once I swap them? I assume there's some sort of anti theft built in

It is a direct plug and play swap. Most of the time the replacement RA2 Radio will work however a few times I have seen it require the anti theft code. Sellers on eBay will sometimes provide you with the anti theft code. If they don’t make sure you are provided with the VIN from the truck the RA2 came from. Your local dealer will then be able to provide you with the anti theft code.

The anti theft codes can be acquired by your dealer's parts department. I had to go in person though some have gotten it over the phone. It's best to take a picture of the back of the radio prior to install so you have all of the info. If I remember correctly, they will only need your VIN and the new radio serial number to generate the code through UConnect's dealer site.

However , if possible you do need to aquire the VIN # from the RAM TRUCK it was removed from so you can do software updates in the future .

I emphasized RAM TRUCK above because it's a better bet the RA2 will work in your truck . Some other Chrysler vehicles with the RA2 will work with the RAM trucks and some won't ... I can't remember which one's don't work but all RAM TRUCKS are compatible hardware wise ....

Hope this helps !

Don't mean to step on the OP's toes, but I might be interested in your RA2 radio. This is the 5" screen, correct? I have an '18 2500 Tradesman with the basic Uconnect 3.0. It has Bluetooth and hands-free, but I'd like to make the backup camera go to the radio instead of the rearview mirror. I believe all I need is the Radio and a harness from M2.
