I don't actaully disagree with anything already posted, but I offer a different scenerio:
IF , IF you have a CMR tune and IF you have talked to your tuner, You may be able to run some race gas ( unleaded) and pick up a tenth or so:
Run your tank down to 3 gallons of pump ( 93 is what I run in my Charger), which we all do anyway to save weight, right? Then add about 4-5 gallons of say 104 unleaded.
now you have about 8 gallons of 98 or higher octane. I always mix more 104 than I think I have of 93 in the tank.
IF your tuner says ok, modify the CMR tune, add 4 deg( or whatever amount your tuner directs) of timing to all ranges and load the tune.
see if that cuts some time off of your ET.
You should log for knock, and an AFR is very helpful, you may need to add fuel.
So a trinity vice a IT2 would come in handy, or bring your laptop.
When your done racing reload the tune AFTER you reset all paramaters, and BEFORE you fill up with hi test on the way home.
I dont intend on doing this on my truck, but if I was chasing an ET, I sure would.
Obviusly this isn't for someone new to tuning.
Another way is to get a "race tune" from your CMR tuner that you can load at the track.
I think the trinty will hold up to 5 CMR (custom) tunes , not sure on the IT2.
There is also a way to save a modified tune and rename it, but I believe you have to export it to your laptop as "last tune written" , then rename it, then put it back onto your tuner. Then you would want to reflash the PCM with your "daily driver cmr tune. "/
That is not instructions do not try this at home, I just wanted to say what can be done.
