I have a 2016 Ram 2500 Tradesman 6.7. I always felt it was a little under powered vs the other trucks I test drove but not much. I put it out of my mind as my imagination.

Well I just picked up my 2021 and it is a world of difference. Feels like the 2021 has twice the horsepower and throttle response is so much better.

Is there that much difference between the 2016 6.7 and the 2021? Or is there something Wrong with my 2016?

The 2021 is a redesigned engine, uses a CGI block and hydraulic lifters. I'm sure the engine has been tweaked fuel mapping wise also. You '16 also has a 3.42 rear end the '21 has 3.73

They are both the new CGI. Dually with SO also comes with 4.10 rear.

This time around they decided to focus on power instead of mileage. Hence the jump from 3.42 to 3.73.

The 2021 is going to have alot more seat of the pants power. If they are similar trims...the 2021 is also lighter.. Increasing the butt dyno.

The OP mentioned his 16 was a 2500 but doesn't say what his '21 is, the HO version isn't available in a 2500. There is a 50 ft/lbs increase in torque for the '21 also.

I just assumed he meant 2500 again. But yeah. He was very vague.

The 2021 is such a better overall truck. It is no wonder he would think his 2016 is broke.

I do wish people would be a bit more specific when asking questions. But it is what it is

Good times
