I'm just about a month in with my first RAM. A 2019 Bighorn with Sport Pkg. Decided to go with a DIY bedliner from U-pol. The Raptor in black.

Have to say I was more than a bit nervous to do this on my own but it was super easy. Not a fast process if done right but I had 3 days to kill this past weekend. It really only took 1.5 days though.

Almost made me sick to be sanding down new clearcoat and paint on a nearly new truck. More than once I questioned my sanity.

Prep work takes time and a lot of sweat to do right but I took my time and just kept after it. Taping, sanding, a bit of primer, and some extra adhesive in the tougher spots was all the prep I needed. Spraying is SUPER easy and was actually enjoyable, just keep the damn air hose out of the way. Minor mistakes are easy to fix too. All in all it came out pretty nice.

Ping me with questions.

That will look great. Again prep seems to be the biggest thing that you need to focus on. Spraying the material is nearly idiot proof. Make sure you have a decent compressor. I used this as an excuse to buy a new one. I had a portable DeWalt and realized pretty quickly that wasn't going to even be close to keeping up with the spray gun. Luckily I caught that before starting to spray.

Bought a cheap 20 gallon from the Depot and it did great. Would only run for a minute to recover after finishing each bottle of Raptor. So plenty of air in the tank. Not sure if an 8 gallon compressor would be sufficient. Probably...but may have to take a small break before finishing a bottle.

Overspray is very minimal.

I shot at around 60 psi or just under. Finer texture at higher psi. Courser at lower.

It looks great to me. Did you have to remove the tailgate?

Can you do the spray gun work inside a garage? Or is there too much overspray? Thanks.

I probably could have done it with the tailgate on but just seemed better to take it off especially so I could tape the lines better. Wiring disconnect is a pain on the tailgate.

I sprayed mine in the garage in pretty close quarters with lots of tape and plastic sheets covering the paint on my truck. I was expecting a lot of overspray but this stuff shoots out with really no mist like you would get with paint. Comes out kind of chunky in a pretty narrow cone so it's not shooting all over the place. You can shoot it right where you need it to go. No runs. A couple of times I tilted the gun too far and some oozed out of the top and dripped down into where I just sprayed. I just dabbed it and shot a little more in that spot. Same with accidentally dragged the hose across it. Just shoot a bit more there and its instantly covered up. This stuff is very forgiving.

Look at the picture of the tailgate. That's right where I shot it. Just a bit ended up on the cardboard and that was my fault. Again really no overspray. Watch someone shoot insulation or fiberglass and it's kind of the same thing. Shoots thick, not misty.

I see the product you used comes in different quantities. How much did you use, and for what size bed? I appreciate the information.

That is a 5'7" bed from the pics.

Was it the 4 qt kit from Amazon?

I got the kit that comes with 4 bottles, hardener, and sprayer for like $119. Also bought their etch primer and the grip. I sanded really well with 80 grit, then touched up bare metal areas with the primer and let dry. Then shot the grip in areas that I wasn't able to sand well enough and along edges and my tape lines just to make sure the liner sticks well there. Then sprayed.

My truck is a 19 crew cab with the short bed. I ended up using 3 3/4 bottles but could have stretched it a bit more. That was 2 full coats. The first was moderately light with a thicker final coat. I still had a lot left so I hit the floor again and other high wear areas like the wheel wells, tailgate, and floor close to the tailgate where the floor ridges start. I still ended up with probably 3/8s of a bottle left.

If you have the extended cab, the kit should easily do your entire bed, just don't try to do too much in a single coat, 2 lighter coats is better. Long bed...you could probably stretch it out to work but I would suggest a 5th bottle.

Also don't expect this to be a real thick liner like Line-x unless you buy extra and layer on more coats. I'm not hauling rocks or sharp objects so the thinner material should work very well for me and frankly I think it looks better.

If you are doing the body of your vehicle, I would absolutely take this over a Line-x or one of the thicker materials.
