Good morning everyone.

I bought a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic EcoDiesel 2wd about a month ago and just installed a lift for it yesterday. Yes I know it’s a 2wd and I put a lift kit on so please spare the comments as I need help. This is my first truck I’ve ever owned so the the lift area is new to me.

The lift I used was the RC 4” spindle lift

The truck looks great however rides awful. I haven’t got it aligned yet and I know it needs it based on the steering wheel position and camber of wheels. However the truck just feels so soft and sloppy. I specifically bought this kit because of al the reviews saying how tight and stock like it drove.
Issues im seeing are when you turn the steering wheel back and forth quickly when driving it rocks badly side to side like the shocks are shot. I didn’t expect it to ride just like stock but this is horrible.

Next I’ve noticed a fairly significant increase in the turning radius and the new knuckles actually rub against the lower control arms at full lock.

if anyone could please provide some insite of maybe something I can look for I would greatly appreciate it.

I have the Maxtrac 4.5 lift on my 2wd. Upgrading my rear sway bar with Hellwig helps a lot with side to side movement.

It's my understanding that even at stock height the stock knuckles will make contact with the lower control arms.

Get it aligned like the others say. It makes a world of difference.

The diesel engine is a lot heavier than a gas engine. Rough Country notoriously has less than optimal shock absorbers. I do not have any personal experience with a 1500 diesel yet but I would go out on a limb to say that the new shocks are not what you need. That would explain why it seems to rock all over the place. They are stiff on trucks with a gas engines as the reviews stated. I would do more research such as cross referencing part numbers

The shocks that come with that kit are rear only.......the side to side movements should feel same as stock

I clicked on the link and saw front and rear, must be a generic picture. I wrote the first thing that popped into my head. A quick scan of the description didnt mention diesel and there is quite a difference. I have guys send me links to the wrong kits on a daily basis, mainly the 2500's and 250's. I install a lot of lifts and never had one sloppy pre alignment something doesnt add up.

When I got my lift I didn't get it aligned for the first day and when turning it rubbed like crazy. As soon as I got it aligned it all went away. You'd be surprised what it can fix.

Hey guys so i got it aligned and it made a big difference as far as side to side movement and also decreased some of the rubbing at full lock.

i asked a rep at rough country if the kit would work on the diesel and he assured me it would as it does however I just don’t think it was properly designed for the extra weight. I went ahead and ordered the Hellwig sway bar which I should get tomorrow so hopefully that helps eliminate some of the body roll. I guess down the road I could try the Fox Shocks out and see how they do. Is anyone running them on the 2wd here?

I use Bilstein myself but I've been curious to see if the fox shocks are better. I'm on my second set of Bilsteins so I've had plenty of seat time with them.

JB1.......you are corect!.................I purchased & installed this kit on my truck in 2018 & at that time it didn't come with front shocks??

well glad the OP got the problem solved...

Really?...that’s odd, what shocks did you use?

I’m not too familiar with the 2WD lifts other than maxtrac

I just used the stock shocks.....truck only had 700mi on it when I did the lift

After the lift, with original tires and wheels it rode just like stock, went straight down the road with no issues

Of course I got it aligned before new tire and wheels
