Theres lot of scanners out there. What is the general consensus for a scanner that reads and will clear codes for a 2009 - 2018 ram ???
Just want to read and clear eng codes. No abs or srs codes. So cheap and easy like a fat girl in a bar at 2:00 AM. ; )

Most any scanner will at very least read and clear.

Convert, for now.

small
Never mind I see now were you have owned one before. Kind of pricey for what I need.
Possibly, wasn't sure if you changed tire height as well, worked perfect on speedometer correction on my last truck.

This unit seems to have some advantages. Getting help after reading the code is a big deal if your wanting to fix it yourself. We used to have a program in the body shop that produced a diagnostic tree to use after you pulled the code. This seems to be along the same lines as that.

The tires wheels were changed by the previous owner. So now that you mentioned it . I'll have to ck and see if they are taller than stock for my year truck .

I did get a code using the pedal commander. Didn't know not to use the eco modes. The light clears if battery is disconnected. But I want to know what the code was. That and I'm sure the day will come when I get other trouble codes.

My main reason for choosing this unit was the support after reading the code. If you want to fix as much as you can yourself. That's a big plus.

exactly. my mechanical skills are limited, but i want to use all i have got. you can really save some money with a little bit of preplanning and common sense. Especially once you get out of warranty and start modding.

When the time comes I'll probably get a factory service manual for this truck too. Having worked for car dealers for over 20 years. I know all to well the BS that goes on there. The dealer I got my truck from will give me free oil changes for 2 years FREE. They will never see my truck in their lot !!

Just to be clear. I worked in the body shop and the service dept used to even try and rob us.

Got it today. Did the app down load and used it. Not bad for the money. There was no detailed info for the two codes I had from the pedal commander. They cleared easy enough. The app also has a list of all recalls and service bulletins for my truck.

You can change vehicles and run what ever it is your working on.

Having used scanners that cost $6000.00 + $
This is not bad at all for the money,, $100.00 Not counting my S9+

Yea I did. There was no diagnostic tree for these two codes. Not sure if anyone has one though. Theres always Google

From passed experience especially on later model vehicles. It might be like star trek. Your going were no one has gone before. This might be the case with those two codes. Both of which under ordinary circumstances would lead to testing the switch and or replacing it with a known good one then moving on from there. Its possible there is no factory test for that switch, I've seen that too. After all they are in bizz to sell parts. The manufacturer of the vehicles make more money over the life of the vehicle on parts then they do on the sale of the vehicle that is based on a full life span.

Code P0420 has a very detailed tree. Everything from clogged cat. To bad plugs.
