After doing a lot of reading on this forum I decided I wanted to upgrade my OEM Harmon Kardon 8.4" radio. I got a great deal on a Panasonic UAQ radio / media hub and installed it. I immediately started testing functions and was happy to find that everything was working perfectly (even reverse cam when shifting into reverse)

I came back the next day to hop in the truck and head to work. Things looked a little different and after some quick searching on this forum I found that the radio "read my BCM" overnight. My HVAC was showing single zone whereas it showed dual when I first plugged it in etc etc.

When I arrive at work I go to back into my spot, put the truck in reverse and NOTHING. Hmm that's odd. Maybe it's a glitch. I go to the "Apps" and hit the backup cam button and boom theres the camera in perfect working order, but again when I shift into reverse no camera comes up. Drive home after work and take the radio out to "reset" the power to it. Figured it was just a glitch or something. Plugged the radio back in and everything is working again, reverse when I shift in reverse PERFECT. I went inside happy for the night. Next day go to shift it into reverse same problem! I have searched high and low, checked the camera circuits, fuses, etc. Everything seems to be in perfect physical order it just for some reason is not allowing the camera to activate when I shift into reverse after the truck "reads by BCM"

Does anyone have an answer to why this happened and if there is a remedy ? I would greatly appreciate any help because this really the only non-functional aspect of the UAQ and I am loving this radio besides not having the camera when backing up to my trailers.

A little background on my truck : It is a 2013 RAM 2500 6.7 diesel, I bought it in 2018 , it is an SLT, I added the reverse camera kit to it in July of 2018 and had the dealer flash the XAC code. The reverse camera has never given me any issues in the past.

I do have AlfaOBD but have not really used it for anything other than scanning faults. If theres a change I need to make in that program I can figure it out.

Thanks for reading and for any help you might be able to offer.

I'm guessing maybe there is a pin out difference, but I don't know off the top of my head. @Mpgrimm2 might know if the pins switched. I'll compare your pin out to mine tomorrow if he hasn't chimed in yet.

Thank you for taking a look for me. It is just so odd that when you pull the power to the radio it works perfectly for like an hour and then all of a sudden after it “knows” my truck it decides it doesn’t want to activate in reverse. The backup car button is in apps and works flawlessly as well it’s just an extra step when backing up to trailers that I would like to eliminate LOL. When I did my backup cam install I had to tie into pins 31 32 and 33. Gray orange and gray purple and then a shield.

I was wondering if on the trucks equipment with Panasonic electronics they had a different camera but I read a thread where @Mpgrimm2 mentioned the camera part numbers were the same 2016-2023 and being that I installed mine in 2018 it certainly falls in those year ranges.

Thanks again !!

I checked and the pinout looks the same (although the HD pin out seems to have a lot more configurations). I used this site to check...
