Rear and shimmy, when you let off throttle, or when you tap off of Cruise control??? 165,000 miles did anybody else change their rear control links?

I have 167,000 miles on my 2016 rebel. I get a crazy shimmy when I let off the throttle on the highway, or when I’m doing cruise control at 80 miles an hour and tap the brakes. Did anybody else change their rear end, Control links. I had it on the list at work the other day and the bushing seem a bit worn and the shimmy is excessive.

That could possibly be your tk's issue.

I've noticed the lower control arm bushings seem rather 'loose' in their bores ...in my truck (175k), although I haven't noticed any shimmying. I've thought previously, I might consider removing & pressing some new ones in, or buying new control arms. I think I saw new arms w/bushings for not that much.

Obviously make sure the front suspension & steering parts are all tight as well.

How did you guys test your rear control arms for excessive play? I think I'm having this issue as well. My bushings look ok visually and don't seem to be excessively worn but I haven't pulled them off to check.

I installed Clayton upper and lower rear arms and could not be more pleased with the way it handles now . Well worth the effort ,especially when compared to the flimsy stock arms that twist and flex.

You'll have to take the control arms out and inspect. More likely they'll be shot. Early warnings and easy to tell for example when you lift off the gas or stomp on the gas and the truck wants to go towards the side of the road for no reason.

These are the POS Mevocrap ones, say no to Made in China arms..., these had been in my truck for 6 months and look how they were. 3 out of 4 had failed bushings. Bought them brand new to replace the stockers with 80k miles.

I installed the full set of Claytons overland+ back in March 2020. They have been set it and forget it in literally 4 years and 60k miles, and they don't have greasing zerks so nothing to grease/maintain. The bushings also feature a knurled section so they'll clamped to the mount like God said so :) they're for JT but borrowed from 4th gen RAM trucks so these are designed with heavy duty tasks in mind, even in the JT's the bushing call for 180-190ft/lbs same as our trucks.

Way better built than the factory ones and super heavy duty, this is one upper

and this is the lower

And again with the way the bushing/sleeve is built your factory control arm mount brackets won't chew up your bushings as you torque them to 180-190ft/lbs because the mount walls never contact the actual bushings just like it does in stock form

I had this problem with my 16 Rebel when it was new with 50 miles in it, plus it would actually change lanes when I nailed the throttle. So I traded it back in after a 6 month period after 3 dealers could not fix it.
