Rear bumper mystery hole

Hello all,
I drive a 2020 tradesman 4wd 6.7
To the left of the rear license plate is an opening.
I have no idea what it's for.
It annoys me being open like that.
Is there a blank that fits there?

On my RAM 1500 the location you make reference is for trailer lights/electric trailer brakes? ... I won't never use them, so that's what is fitted in the "opening" on my truck.

Idk it there is an blank made for covering the opening ...

Sigh. If you are between the ages of 13 and 75 odds are you've got a camera within arm's reach at least 12 hours of the day... ON YOUR CELL PHONE.

Taking a quick picture and going "What's this for?" Is really simple and takes the guesswork away for the rest of us out here in internetland.

Having been stuck with a blow-out, I can confirm it's the hole used to lower your spare tire.

the 2009 Dodge Ram had two holes beneath the tailgate.

one is for the tailgate wiring, the other is for the spare tire winch

The hole for the spare tire crank is usually to the right of the license plate, and above the bumper. Unless your looking for the hole, it is hardly noticeable. Without a picture were just guessing about your mystery hole..

The square plug on the left is where the trailer tow camera harness would plug in if your truck was equipped which obviously is not.


Yours should have a plain block off cap.

Don't ever be discouraged asking questions. Picture or not does not matter to me and many folks. I'm familiar enough I can figure things out without a picture.

To add, I tried to find it in a parts website but didn't see it listed. You could reach out to a vendor here @AllMoparParts.com . Benny can probably locate the blockoff cover for you.

Learned a long time ago, there is Never a Stupid Question, just perceived perception. But it would help when U get back to your home to post a picture. DO believe it is trailer involved option you do not have, but again, pic help when U can post.

The hole in the bumper cover on the driver side of the license plate is for the 2020 digital rear view mirror tow mode camera port. Now, where to find the cover: I have not found it listed ne where, just the complete camera systems. Your dealer should be able to source for you, remember I said should be able to. I got a pic off of ebay ref the hole/cover, but how to source that cover, I can find no parts diagram showing that item. Dealer would have to help.

I forgot that with the new Rams, they moved the Trailer Electrical Connections over to the Passenger side.
That was done to make space for the Trailer Cameras
