Rear defrost

I brought a wrecked truck 2017 2500 Laramie the back glass was not in it. According to the dealer by running the vin it did not have rear defrost. It does have the switch on the dash as well as the wires in the back that hook to the glass for defrost. Question is if I install a window with defrost will it work? Anyone know?

That switch turns the mirror defrosters also. Try turning it on and see if you have voltage at the wiring? Maybe you could enable it with AlfaOBD if it doesn't work?
There's not much use for a rear window defroster except to be able to see what's in the bed.
