Does anyone have or know what the large shock absorber unit is on the top of some differentials of some RAM trucks?

I have a 2017 with four corner air suspension and suffer from the "RAM BUMP" issue when I stop, and let off the brake. A definite bump occurs... reminds me of the old >spring wrap up older Chevy trucks with leaf spring rears.

There is much debate over the "RAM BUMP" issue. Some claim to solve it, and others cannot repeat the results. Some seem to have it worse/more often than others. I get it very infrequently myself, not often at all.

The most often reasons for it that I see cited are either A) Transmission shifting at the end, or B) our two piece driveshafts "sticking" slightly (they slide in and out of each other), and then suddenly sliding at a stop with a bit of a jerk. But there are other theories out there too.

While it may feel weird, it is "normal" and nothing to be concerned over, unless you feel like driving yourself batty trying to track it down. :)

I'm on my third truck in twenty one years. They have all had "bumps." My 1990 Chevy's bump was so rough I checked my rearview to see it I was hit. For some reason the bumps never bothered me. Or I was told it was normal so long ago and I forgot. Don't worry about your "bump." It's a truck thing. As long as it gets you from point A to point B it's fine.

I've only seen the shock on the 2500 and heavier trucks. It's supposedly to help with the wheelhop on them. I don't know if anybody has tried adapting it to a 1500,but i'd be curious to know if it helps with their wheelhop issues.
