My 2019 1500 bighorn has 1700 miles on it. It’s been in the shop on it’s 3rd week now. This is the second major problem I have had with a truck I have owned for 47 days. They say they are waiting for the part to replace the whole rear end. My question is what are my options and should I accept this from Ram and my dealership. A brand new truck that I haven’t been able to use now for going on three weeks.

That’s tough for sure. I’m assuming they’ve given you a loaner at least. Maybe @ramcares can get involved and get the parts moving quicker for you.

You could make a case for them to make a payment for you given they can't give you your truck back.

In my case, they had my new 2014 6.4L powered 2500 for almost a month after I had owned it for 14 days. They swapped out the sport mirrors for some power fold/tilt/pan/lighted/heated tow mirrors as "compensation for vehicle unavailability."

That’s a new style rear differential with added water cooling, may take awhile to get one.

What was the other major problem?

If they have it over 30-31 days you have a lemon law case. Unless your state has some weird guidelines for it.

You can use that to as a bartering chip for some things. If it was me I’d contact FCA and try to get a Lifetime Maxcare. I would wait till it was over that period to contact them

Just be aware that once you mention lemon law, pretty much all communication stops, from what I have read from others that won't this route. Check the lemon law in your state and start figuring out your options.

Hi Jrparks81,
I'm sorry you haven't been able to drive your new truck. At your earliest convenience, please send us a private message with your VIN so we can look into this further for you.

...once you mention lemon law, pretty much all communication stops...

What does that mean?
Is it all "talk to my lawyer" from that point on?
Is it a structure process that is inviolable and predetermined steps (hence talking about options is no longer necessary)?

Edify us, what means commo stops upon invoking lemon law?

It's my understanding, the dealer and FCA stop talking to the customer once the lemon law process is initiated. As you say, talk through the lawyer.
