I assume I have the 4 speaker system and not the infinity speaker system. I only assume because I dont see any badges. But when I have my Pioneer AVH-8400BH headunit set to middle fade the speaker crackle bad but as I start to fade to the front it gets better till its gone. The lower the volume the faster it goes away and the higher the volume the more it needs to be faded to the front. Do I have a OEM amo giving me issues? Or is it thing thing the previous owner left to to some degree? Im not sure how much its hooked up.

Second issue. The driver side rear speaker does not work but I assume the wire are broke in the tube between the door and the body(hear its a somewhat common issue). How the hell do you get the SOB out to check/fix?

I would like to get these resolved before getting new speakers.....but I guess I should save those questions for a new thread.

THE THING!?!?

This had a *** for the driver to adjust.

Wow thats a good one. It sounds like the speakers are going. There are a couple simple tests you can do. Get another speaker and hook it up. Or swap front to rear and see if the sound moves. If so new speaker time. But for that knob i have no idea never seen that before. I can say it doesnt look factory. Lol

The box in your last pic is a line out converter. It takes speaker level signals and converts them to RCA outputs. Its usually used to hook amps up to a factory stereo. I dont know why you would need one if you have an aftermarket Head unit. The knob is probably a bass knob that was hooked up to an amp at one point. it would have either turned the subwoofer volume up and down or turned the "bass boost" on an amp up or down

yeah all that was from the previous owner besides the head unit. I dont understand the blown speaker idea though. I should double check but im pretty sure all the speakers crackle when I dont have enough fade to the front.....

I would yank out that line out convertor as the first step. That could be your source of crackle. The first couple pics look exactly like a remote bass knob, especially along with the blue wire that was probably the amp remote turn on. Try to trace the white and grey wires out of the convertor to where ever they are tapped into the factory wires and disconnect them there. Then check the sound of the speakers. For the backdoor wire, you can always hook a multi-meter set to AC voltage up to the speaker wires behind the speaker and see if anything is getting through with the stereo on. Other trick to check a path is to remove your radio and take a AA battery and momentarily connect the battery to the speaker wires, you'll get a small pop sound from the speaker (unless the speaker is complete toast). Don't hold it there, just a quick connection. If you get nothing, running a new wire through the door jam can be tough. Patience, a metal clothes hanger and lots of electrical tape.
