I have a 2013 2500 tradesman. When I take off from a stop I get a clunk sound almost like there is a split second where the drive line turns before it grabs and I start going. I have also developed a squeaking sound on the front side of the differential and when I investigated that I found the diff is pretty low on oil and it's pretty thin. I'm assuming that a bearing is going bad from lack of oil and o can probably fill it with oil and that will take care of the noise. But what about the clunk. Any thoughts

Check the u-joints on the driveshaft. If one is going bad they can generate a healthy clunk. Could also be the source of the squeak you think is coming from the diff. Does sound like your diff could stand a fluid change, tho.

The clunk is “normal”. Annnoying as hell but “normal”. Heck my f150 did it too. I’ve checked everything and a;l is good. My f150 has a TSB to remove driveline and lube the drive shaft. But it comes back. There’s tons of info on the forum in this problem

That drive shaft will carry noise from one end to the other like a string guitar... I had “Pinging” one time and swore up and down it was the drive shaft... silly U joints...
