I’ve had a clunk sound on my Ram since it was new. The dealer could never figure it out. The dealer installed the 4” Superlift kit I have on my Ram.

The clunk would only happen intermittently from the rear end (sounded like passenger side) during hard accelerating from a standstill or hard braking coming to a stop.

The clunk wasn’t loud but was very apparent.

When the dealer couldn't figure it out I just decided to live with it.

Lately, the clunk has started happening almost all of the time during any type of accelerating from a standstill or braking to a stop; not just hard accelerating or braking.

So today I took it into the mechanic who did my Bilstein 5100’s for me and he spent some time on my Ram and figured it out. Apparently, the rear control arm bolts were tight but not tightened to the proper torque specifications. My mechanic solved the problem that the dealer was stumped by.

The Ram now run clunk free and the suspension feels a lot tighter.

So there is another fix guys for anyone having one of those mystery clunks.

What torque specs? I installed some core 4x4 lower control arms last summer and this year I noticed some intermittent clunking . I suspected I may need to retorque.

Spence at Core 4x4 told me 140 is the correct torque specs for the lower control arms according to him ... that is what I gave them ... no clunks or noises ... everything feels perfect
