Evening all,

I'm getting some rear end noise when turning right. Kind of a whine or grind. It reduces or disappears when I straighten out or turn left.

It's obvious when doing a swooping s turn.

I had the diff rebuilt in January and the front hubs were new last year.

My reading online leads me to think it's a rear axle bearing. But I'm looking for some reassurance.

What's your thoughts on the cause? Breaks aren't sticking and the truck runs and coasts fine.

2004, 4.7 4x4 with off road package. 171000 miles.

I’m a bit surprised the shop didn’t replace the axle bearings when they were in there. If I pull a differential apart, I’m not putting it back together with axle bearings with that many miles on them.

I think you need to just approach it as a fresh problem and diagnose all the possible causes. Considering the lousy state of manufacturing and supply, there’s every chance a new bearing put in recently is noisy.
