Ive been trying to do research on e85 in my 2012 4.7 ,and i have got no real straight answer.

I just want to know if there is power difference between e85 vs standard 87 octane gas.

Is there really a 6 to 9 % increase in torgue when you e85 in a flex fuel 1500?

NO- I ran one tank of e-85 through my flex fuel town and country. Pedal response was horrible. Fuel mileage went in the toilet. Power was non-existent compared to gas. My brand new oil turned pitch black. Cold starts under 32 degrees required a lot of cranking of the motor. THEN I read my owners manual and it stated to expect all these symptoms when running e-85.

several years ago, it was suggested to try running E-85 in the company work vans. Similar experience as above, the vans felt like they wouldn't get out of their own way and the fuel economy sucked horribly.

If I remember correctly, E-85 is about 80ish % energy comparable to reg gas. Plus it tends to eat through some lines and seals, depending on the age of your car. I'd avoid it if possible.

You have to use approximately 40 to 50% more E-85 to get the same energy as gasoline. E-85 is really only good for use in boosted or high compression applications where the engine is tuned to run on E-85 because it is around 100 octane.

Just some info here because I don't know if the 4.7 is a flex fuel motor or not. If you don't have a flex fuel motor don't even think of messing with e85. Flex fuel motors have a completely different fuel system than other vehicles, different tank, pump, fuel lines, and probably more. If you try running e85 in a regular gas engine you're gonna create all kinds of problems.
