Remote start run time

Due to travel with my 4-legged copilot in various temperature situations, I find I need to leave my truck running with heat or A/C. My truck is a 2017 Big Horn 4X4 crew cab. I typically exit the vehicle, lock the truck, and then start using the remote start feature. This is good for 15 minutes after which there is a automatic shut-off. Is there an option to delete the timed shut down or at least extend the run time?

I would just use my second key fob to lock and unlock the doors while it's running, don't have to worry about it timing out and shutting down.

What about a potential break-in/theft if I leave the other key fob in the ignition? That's the reason I have being performing the remote start option.

My sister and I stopped at a restaurant and I went in to pick up take out while she sat in the truck with the engine running. When I returned she told me that when I walked away from the truck there was a ding and a message came up in the EVIC: "Key fob has left the vehicle" or similar. I did not check into it but I assume that this situation would prevent putting the truck in gear and driving off, similar to remote start. Has anyone verified this?

Update: Apparently if you can get in you can drive away. Makes no sense to me with all the "idiot resistant" features on these things. Maybe I would get lucky and the perp would try to drive off with the door open.

I love dogs but I wouldn't think of breaking in someone's vehicle to steal it if there was a dog in it. You never know the tempermant of a strange dog, and even little ones will tear you're ass up if they are very territorial. I have 2 dogs, both are pretty much lap dogs. The one would lick you to death, the other one would tear you're ass up.

I know what you mean about dogs, my last mutt would tear someone up but the Aussie I currently have would probably unlock the door for a stranger and lick them as they drove off in my truck.

If it was an aftermarket unit the can.

I have pts and i will run into a gas station all the time with it running.. however i will also lock it with the FOB.

With the remote start I just purchased LINK HERE, I can press the remote start button on the remote and it will take over your vehicle allow you to remove your key without shutting off your truck. I'm pretty sure your installer can adjust your run time on that system up to 45 minutes. And, if you get the Drone add-on, you can have the Drone tell you when your engine shuts off, if you can't make it back in time - and then you can re-start it from your phone.
