Doing research on different intakes one of them had said something about removing the scoop off of the factory intake so tonight I was bored and decided to take a look to see how hard it was to remove and I disovered it was not hard at all now I have a big whole in the front of the intake and now I have a mid to moderate intake sound now so a simple 5 minutes I have a growl coming from under the hood. Just thought I would share.

So you have a big hole to suck in hot engine bay air?
You've turned an 'as good as it gets from factory' intake into a warm ait intake to get some growl.
Your truck, though. Hope you like it.

I see in your bio you have an s&b intake with the scoop, being a fellow dweller of the frozen tundra, I have to ask you, do you keep the scoop in during winter? I am looking at the scoop for an s&b intake (they are now available for '14) and just can't decide... our fun snowy winters is the only drawback for me on the scoop. Whats your opinion on it since you've owned it??

During winter I run the S&B pre-filter sock thing over the filter element. That was their recommendation for winter and it seemed fine last year when we had record amounts of snow. I literally plowed the road from the mouth of our community to the driveway by charging a couple feet at a time, with no repercussions.

That said, if I could go back (or sell my setup for close to what I paid), I'd get an S&B or Green drop-in element for the stock airbox and add a ram-air tube to the bottom of the airbox.
The $475 of S&B did nothing but a bit of noise @ WOT.
