so my cats are breaking apart and probably pretty close to plugging up... i heard a rumor that they can be punched out and still pass emissions. anyone have any luck with this? I dont really have the money for a new exhaust yet, and with it being my daily driver i dont wanna get stranded either.

I'm worried about my cat as well. I think im gonna cut it off and clamp a piece of straight pipe over it with some aluminum duct tape for added asurance. I've never had to do emissions so i couldnt tell you but a lot of people gut their cats i know so might be a viable option. Also if you take that old one to a metal recycling place you can get $40 bucks usually so thats a calculation into getting a new one you can probably get a regular old one for $80 or so or a highflow for $140.

When I got my truck, the cat was already removed and the o2 sensor was removed as well. The CEL is on. There's a straight pipe there now. I'm looking to redo my whole exhaust. I'm putting the cat back on and O2 sensor at that time.

If you have to pass emissions, just get regular cats. Today's cats are high flow by current standards anyway, ie they'll flow ****loads more than your stockers even when they were new.

Hmmm how might you eliminate the cat? I did some research about pipes with holes for the o2 senors in them but that's just retarded. Honestly the fact that these things exist and we have to pay for them is just retarded, if the government wants to give us emissions standard then they need to pay for it. Honestly why are homeless people getting food stamps on our dollar when they pay no taxes. We pay taxes but we don't get free cats! Most homeless people make more money than the average joe ( I see homeless people in shiny new insulated carhartts around here, they look better than mine) theres my rant. But how might i delete the cat?

Most people just weld a **** into a piece of pipe. lol Or they cut the side of the cat open and gut it, but that sounds like ass.

I was going to just punch out all the material inside of them for now before they plug up the system completely, but i have to get an emissions test in the next few months but i just dont have the money for a complete exhaust yet.

Cats are free down here. Just put some food outside and scoop them up when they come.
