My 05 has 79K on it now and runs fine but im wondering if its worth replacing fuel injectors to restore any power loss or efficacy? Also how would you know if they are failing?

Seems like a "if it aint broke don't fix it" issue maybe?

a little old thread now, but about injectors.. My 06 2500 Cummins are having its injectors refurbished now, getting it back on monday. It started to run very uneven on idle, and it got a "knocking" sound when revving up, wich follows the rpm.. a set of New ones a pretty expensive so i would reccomend trying to refurbish them..

Very highly doubt it. If you were having problems with one cylnder firing lean or cold then I would look into an injector as being a possible problem....but save your cash.

Two completely different beasts. A gas engine runs around 40PSI at idle and 60PSI under load. Our engines run about 5,000 PSI at idle and about 26,000PSI under full load (well at least mine holds about 26K).
Fuel filtration is a lot more important with a common rail than it is with a gas engine... Diesel injectors fail because of poor or compromised fuel filtration.

^^^ along these lines bad injectors in a diesel can lead to extra fueling which can create enough heat to melt the cylinder (totaling the truck in some cases)
