Has anyone posted a 'how to' on replacement of the driver seat bottom cushion spring set? The only youtube videos I've found are talking about the cushion foam or the cover. Any help or advise would be most appreciated! :waytogo:

SYKRAMMAN: I have the spring set. Got it off ebay. The seat foam and cover are ok. Plan to reuse them again. Was wondering if anyone had a shortcut to install the springs without dismantling the cushion from the seat frame. Thanks!

With the seat out, the tracks unbolt from the frame. At that point, the fabric and foam simply unclips from the frame - no hog rings, etc. At that point it is easy to replace springs. You may not have broken springs - there are wires the springs attach to that could also be broken.

dapepper9: The spring set was about $20 or so. I got it awhile back.

Evilspirit is right on his post, on mine the wires were broke 2 the end of them (i had about 6 of them broke) I cheated and took some wire like the originals and doubled them up and wrapped them like a turnbuckle) worked out ok.....

When you get it apart you will probably find that the spring wires have eaten into the foam. What I usually do is put a double layer of scrap vinyl material over the spring unit---can even tie wrap it in place----and this puts the foam cushion up where it belongs. Art

Art ,you may want to look at the dates these posts are originally from, some are pretty outdated.

Update for 2021 posters: I was able to replace the springs on the bottom cushion without removing the seat. On the 98 at least, the bottom cushion has 4 bolts holding it to the seat frame, remove those 4 and the whole bottom cushion and spring assembly removes. You still have to remove the seatcover from the foam cushion but after that, it's easy. Saved a boat load of time. It's a bear but definately doable if you are patient and careful. Nice having the seat back to height.
