Hey everyone

I know this may sound a little redundant. However, I am currently fighting with HID setups on my 2015 w/ projectors. Originally I bought a set of LEDs from OPT7. They were not working well with the projectors and we're very buggy. So I decided to exchange those for a 55W HID setup from OPT7. Just installed them (relay and capacitors). They work about 70% of the time. Usually the passenger side won't light up until I turn the truck off and back on and fiddle with the light switch.

Anyway, I've had enough. I was researching and I see that the 2015 models are very hard to work with. All I can find are a bunch of old threads saying that all these companies were working on a fix and some of them work and some don't. All these threads die off and never add updates since it is now 2017 (almost 2018). I'd assume someone would have found a proper fix.

I was thinking of getting retro to make some new assemblies entirely and color match everything. Does anyone have any personal experience using retroshop purchased HID setups too on a 2015? I already sent JJ an email but I want to make sure you all had positive experiences as well. This is just way too much of a headache for me to go through all over again.

Thanks for all your help!!!

RetroShop has what you need.

I've used JJ"s kits on three different trucks and he never fails to deliver. He had to work hard to get HID's to work on my 2007, which he referred to as the Demon Truck from HID Hell... :D

Get in touch with him through the link to his website.

Same here. I had a set of hids from him on my 15 that gave me nothing but problems until I eventually pulled them off. Don't get me wrong, JJ's customer service is phenomenal, but having to change out something every couple of months got to be a pita. I'm just running factory bulbs for now. Plan on getting a set of Morimoto fogs one day, just will need to find something to match in the headlights after.

Got the Morimoto’s on my 15. They’ve been in for about a month and have been great. Previously, I had LED’s and was not happy with the light output. So far, so good.

What exactly was going wrong? JJ was never able to get you up and running?

I have a 2015 Laramie and purchased from HID from Retroshop last spring. They have been FLAWLESS ever since. What you're referring to about the 2015 being hard to work with, they solved: I believe it was adding another resistor. I couldn't be happier with my purchase, or the level of service provided by Jeremy.

In the year they were in my truck, we've replaced like 2-3 different ballast and 2 different bulbs. Like I said, JJ's customer service is spot on and after contacting him and figuring out the problem, he had a new one under warranty shipped out to me the next day. Was just a pita having to keep tearing stuff apart to fix it.

Would I buy from him again? Absofreakinlutely
Will it be another set of HIDs? Probably not, at least not right now.

And yes, this was all after I had to buy all the parts needed for it to work on the 2015's to start with.

@ramdonuts
Thanks for your input. I think the same but considering the issue I'm having with these opt7 lights I'm wondering if this issue has ever been resolved by anyone.

@ramittome
How long ago was this? If it was recent that still concerns me. But if it was back in 2015 or even 2016 I'd assume he finally figured out the fix.

I just ordered a set of the 50w 5000k HIDS from retroshop. I’ve read nothing but great reviews about them and yes his customer service is on point. I ordered the adapters to run the 13’ and up headlights on my 11’ ram and they were easy plug and play. So far everything has been great from retroshop!!

I am not sure about Retroshop. But I can tell you that The Retrofit Source has a HID kit that is made for out newer Rams. I have their 35 watt 5500K HID kit in my 07 Sport that is over a year old, and it rocks. I have never had any issues with it. But not put them in your lights unless you have projectors. You will be blinding oncoming traffic real bad.
Check out the difference in this photos showing one HID and one halogen bulb with brights, and one with both HID's on lows on.
Then turn on the XML2 fog lights on I purchased from Diode Dynamics.

The next step is replacing the stock halogen high beam bulbs with Supernova V-3 Leds when they get here this week.
