I have a 2014 Ram Hemi Express with 20,700 miles on it. All of sudden I noticed my truck slightly pulling to the right. Stopped and got out, I could smell something was hot as hell. Both the front right and rear right calipers were smoking hot.
I had it towed to the dealership because it's still under extended warranty. After having my truck since last Thursday they finally called today to tell me my cost would be $1,000.00 which included my $100 deductible.
They told me both calipers locked up, which they said warranty would cover but I would have to pay for new pads, fluid flush and having the rotors turned.
Seems to me if the calipers locked up, that caused the pads to fail and damaged the rotors.
They don't have the calipers in stock and won't have them until Wednesday.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Yea, do the work yourself and pay for better rotors and pads. $1000 and u paid for the warranty?! Ouch. That’s just BS.

Last.i heard warranty means fix all failed parts covered for free.
pads are considered wear items and are rarely covered, even if something that is covered causes the pads to wear out premature, it's very hard to get warranty to cover them.

I would be very concerned why 3 calipers are defective on such a low mileage truck. Usually when that happens its caused by brake fluid contamination. IE power steering fluid etc. put in the master cylinder reservoir. If that is the case any component with rubber should be replaced, master cyl. abs hydraulic unit, all hoses and calipers and lines flushed.

1000.00 for pads, fluid and rotor turning? Sounds like they are charging you for the labor even though most of the labor should be covered because of the caliper replacement. Double dipping, me thinks.

I’ve turned rotors before. We used to charge 1/3 the cost of new rotors back in the day at a summer job in a shop I worked at.

Still think it’s overpriced. Rotor and pad kits are only a few hundred. Have them replace all the hard stuff and then u drive it home and do new rotors and pads.

My front driver caliper locked up...truck wouldnt shift out of 3rd gear! I ended up buying all the parts and a jack at an autozone, and doing it in the parking lot. Then returned the jack. Lol

Calipers were covered, the right front and left rear. Turning the rotors and putting pads on all around were not. I called Mopar and Chrysler because I felt the calipers caused the whole problem. Ended up paying $700 after they flushed the brake fluid and did the rest I mentioned. The only good news is I have a 2 year warranty on the work performed.
