Couple questions....
#1 Can somebody confirm that the oem running boards on a 2500 work with a 1500?

#2I have a picture of the ones on a 2500. It has three brackets.
I've seen some of the same style have two brackets. Anybody know why?

My 1500 Crew Cab has three brackets. I think 2 brackets is required the third is optional. Hopefully someone can help out, they LOOK like they should be interchangeable, it would really come down to the mount positions on the body if the line up.

I have the oem Mopar ones for my crewcab and they also have " 3 " brackets. When I went to get a replacement set, I was told by the parts dept that they only come with "2" brackets now.

On my Quad Cab I have 2,and on the Crew Cab I have seen 2 or 3.. IMO they figure if 2 will do it they can save a buck and charge the same lol But you will like them IMO I like the OEM's better the most aftermarket

My OEM boards on my 1500 Quad have 3 mount points. Never looked how the boards are connected to the bracket. I never really assumed they were movable.

The brackets are attached via 2 bolts to the step. If I remember correctly the passthrough holes in the bracket are oblong allowing for slight movement front to back for positioning. Easiest way to mount them would be to mount the bracket to the truck, then the board to the brackets.

I just installed the black set on my Rebel and it has 3 mounting points. If you ask me the more the merrier as it will displace the weight over more mounting points and therefore cause less fatigue over time.

The cabs do not change much over the different weights. When you get to the 4500 and 5500 series the cabs are slightly different but 1500-3500 they are the same.

You may need to install some nut-serts in the rockers for the rackets to mount with. Here is some advise the instructions do not tell you. Soap is not enough of a lubricant. Use some bearing grease instead and also make sure to use a wrench on the little supplied tool. If not you will round off the nut-sert and then you won't be able to get the bolts tight.

I moved the boards from my 1500 to my 2500. I had to adjust the brackets a little but, otherwise no issues. I do have the 3 brackets boards.

You're welcome. You'll likely have to buy the nutsert kit and install them but, they mount right up, no issues.

Did it work? I just bought a 2013 1500 Longhorn and someone has a Longhorn 2500 set for sale.

there is mounting kits that have the hex rivetnut style nuts, bolts and a "tool" to put the rivetnuts on amazon. I have a set for if/when I find he middle brackets for mine that has only 2 per step. The brackets is easy, it's the plastic cover that is a bear to find.
Just search for ram step mounting

there may be cheaper, but this is the set that I got
Amazon bracket mounting hardware

Tool / kit I use. It is a ratcheting style good for close quarters and super easy to use. Just get the right size rivnuts you need and go at it.

(I also have a pneumatic tool, but they are way more $$$$ and need compressed air to use.)
